Spiral Jetty

The Spiral Jetty is a work of art that is always changing. The lake never stays the same, and the Spiral Jetty changes with it. When we went, the water was pink. It’s not always pink unless it is a dry year and the water is salty and warm. The water was quite a ways away from the jetty, and we took quite a surreal walk out to wade in the salty water.

We stopped by Golden Spike on the way there, which is always fun. I tend to go when there is a reenactment….which gets a bit boring after you’ve seen it once. So Peter and I hung out in the visitor’s center playing with a Jacob’s ladder toy.

I remember my art professor from freshman year of college say that the spiral jetty was basically the only significant work of art in Utah. I’ve sort of wanted to see it ever since, but never enough to actually make an effort to see it.
